National War Savings Committee. A Tommie bayonets a Hun in this unusually brutal (for the time) autolithograph drawn by Brangwyn himself on the lithographic stones. This image was so significant it was the focus of an entire chapter in the POWER OF THE POSTER by Margaret Timmers for the Victoria and Albert (1998). She notes that, “Upon seeing it, the Kaiser is reputed to put a price on his head”. This example is remarkably bold and fresh. Rare. (Censorship/ Battle/ War Savings/ Soldier)
