Comments:   Lyceum London. William Sydney Penley in his career with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company and went on to be a great playwrite, his most famous being “Charley’s Aunt” - possibly the greatest theater comedy ever staged. Penly both wrote and starred in “A Little Ray of Sunshine”. George Scotson Clark, the well known poster designer pioneer in the early Beggarstaff Brothers period, worked in a deceptively sophisticated cut paper-like style, showing the first glimmers of Modernism. The image of a top hatted gent enjoying the sun’s rays with his rooster buddy is a delight. Very rare. We have never seen another example.
