Bred by C.A. Pitkin, Hartford, CT. Multicolor bird crate label, soft stone litho, printed by Kellogg & Bulkeley, Hartford. Domestic fowl were, pound for pound, by far the most expensive of domestic animals. It is logical that Mr. Pitkin would go to the expense of producing such an exquisite label for his bird boxes. This is also one of the earliest printed color labels for any American agricultural product we have ever seen. (hens/ roosters) |
